A 'top-rate and versatile entertainer', 'natural communicator' and a 'very funny guy' are sentiments shared by all that have had the pleasure of an Eamonn Toal Experience.
If ever there was a man 'born to the stage' then Eamonn is that man. His solo performance and that with his band will leave you wanting more!
Biography
Eamonn originally hails from Castleblayney in County Monaghan and, along with his 4 brothers and 3 sisters, was brought up on a varied musical diet of jazz, rat pack, big band, swing, country, rock and roll, soul, traditional Irish, gospel and everything in between.
Although his musical roots stems back to the 1940's, when his late father Tommy 'Fat Sam' Toal (a pioneer of local & community radio in Ireland) became the 'youngest lead vocalist of the day' during the showband era, it wasn't until an impromptu performance during a family wedding in 1990 that Eamonn 'got well and truly bitten by the bug' and thus began his own musical journey. He went to London and 'rocked' the rock scene for the next couple of years.
In 1992 He returned to Ireland and set up home in Meath. He attended the Bel Canto School of Music in Dublin and around this time began cutting his Irish pub circuit performing teeth. He then went on to front the 'Gareth Brooks Experience' with appearances in the 'in place' of the day 'Break For The Border'.
In 1995 he had the honour of singing backing vocals on Ireland's chosen entry for the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) of that year. Following this he went on to work on various radio and TV commercials.
In 2000 he had the added honour of being selected by an overwhelming public vote to represent Ireland in the ESC in Stockholm, Sweden. This was one of his proudest moments as he performed to over 300 million people throughout Europe.
Eamonn is delighted to hold Ireland's best placing in this contest since the new voting system came into play, however he will be equally delighted when Ireland takes home the laurels again.
In 2002 US camera crews descended on Howth Head, Dublin, and recorded a music video of Eamonn performing a specially commissioned tribute song to commemorate the 1st anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, which was aired on US Television.
Since his success in the Eurovision his feet haven't touched the ground. He has been constantly in demand for V.I.P. Functions, Official Openings, Master of Ceremonies, Weddings, and also to perform 'Amhran na bhFiann' (Irish National Anthem) at high profile sporting events.
He has worked alongside a host of other Irish showbiz celebrities and has also proudly entertained the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese on several occasions.
The Eamonn Toal Band, which includes his brother Brian (guitar & backing vocals) and Brian's wife Noeleen (keyboard & backing vocals), has been performing together for over 10 years and is currently listed among the top Wedding Entertainment Acts in Ireland.
With Eamonn and his band a married couple can enjoy their 'special day' safe in the knowledge that both they and their guests, young and old alike, will be provided with the best entertainment and mix of music anyone could wish for. A perfect end to a perfect day!
If your Wedding, Corporate/Private Function, Dinner Dance, Racecourse Meet or indeed any other event requires a truly professional, highly entertaining and fun band then look no further. It is advised to book early to avoid disappointment.
For Eamonn, no gig is too big or too small. He is not merely a singer but an all-round entertainer and showman who always gives more than 100% to every performance. No doubt his father is proudly watching in the 'wings' as he sings and taps along. And since Sunday September 7th 2008 (International Angel's Day) Eamonn's beautiful sister-in-law Shirley, married to his brother Paul, is proudly tapping and singing in the wings too.
And we know just how they feel!
